Attendance to the PBA 2024 symposium in Geneva

The 34th International Symposium on Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis took place in Geneva from September 9 to 12, 2024. The main objective of this symposium was to organize a forum for high-level scientific exchanges among specialists from around the world, covering all aspects of pharmaceutical and biomedical analysis, including new technologies and analytical methods for (bio)pharmaceutical products, biomarkers, and "omics".

Pharmelp was present through two specific actions.

As a sponsor, Pharmelp had a stand open throughout the symposium. The ECB 4.0 device was exhibited there and two posters were displayed. One presented its collaboration with HEIA-FR (School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg) and the other the assembly of the ECB 4.0 device.

A young chemistry graduate from HEIA Fribourg also presented her work on the development of a method for analyzing Viagra using capillary electrophoresis.

Moreover, Pharmelp decided to financially support Dr. Thierno Mouhamed Wane from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar to attend the symposium, where he presented two posters. This opportunity will allow him to become more actively involved in the collaboration between the association and the university, in order to strengthen the activities and relieve Professor Serigne Omar Sarr, who is set to take on new responsibilities at the university.

During the congress, numerous contacts were made with our colleagues from European and African universities, especially the Free University of Brussels (ULB), the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA) in France, and Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) in Senegal. The aim was to establish a partnership for the assembly of the ECB Open Source and for the development of active ingredients analysis in African plants used in phytotherapy.
